Snowmobile rentals are available at our Lake Vermilion (Tower, MN) and Downtown Ely locations.

Side x Sides w/ Tracks are available at our Lake Vermilion location ONLY.

*A Note About These Locations: Ely Station and Lake Vermilion snowmobiles rental locations are close to each other, only about 20-25 minute drive. You can rent from either location and meet your party if more snowmobiles are needed than what is available at one location. These locations are connected by the same trail systems.


Q: How do I make a reservation?

A: At the top of our Polaris Adventures webpage (https://yourboatclub.com/polaris-adventures/) there is a button - “Click here to reserve online now!”. Click that button and the reservation system will pop up. Select the snowmobile type you would like to rent, choose your date(s) and time period, add it to your cart and complete payment. You will then receive a confirmation email and you are ready for your adventure!

Q: How old do I have to be to operate the machines?

A: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

To operate any snowmobile you must be 18 years of age or older.

Additionally, to operate a 2-person snowmobile with a minor as the passenger you must be 25 years of age or older.

For side x sides w/ tracks, the age requirement is 21 years or older.

Q: Do I need safety training or a license to drive a snowmobile or side x side w/ tracks?

A: Yes, if you were born after December 31, 1976. Certification is required by law for residents born after December 31, 1976. For further information, go to: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/vehicle/snowmobile/index.html

All riders must carry their Driver’s License/Safety Certificate at all times while operating the equipment.

Exception Non-Residents: Non-Residents who are 18 years old and older do not need a snowmobile certificate.

*The side x side w/ tracks is still registered as a UTV, therefore a snowmobile certificate is not required to operate.

However, age requirements specify that drivers of the machines born after July 1st, 1987 need to have an ATV Safety Certificate. This is required for BOTH resident and Nonresident riders.

Q: How many people can ride on a machine?

A: Snowmobiles: all are single-rider. All of our snowmobiles have two-person capabilities by renting a 2Up seat for an additional $25 per day, per machine.

Side x Sides w/ Tracks: Seat up to 4 people.

Q: Does my machine come with a full tank of gas?

A: Sleds and track rentals will come with a full tank of fuel.

*The customer is responsible to pay for the fuel that is used.

Q: How many machines can I rent at a time?

A: Snowmobiles: Customers have the ability to rent multiple machines at once. However, renting +5 machines requires a minimum of 3-day notice and may require pickup at additional nearby locations. *See delivery options below.

Side x Sides w/ Tracks: Two available machines at Lake Vermilion only. You can rent both if available.

Q: What kind of snowmobiling gear is included or available for rent? What is the recommended attire?

A: Helmets with flip down face shields are provided for your convenience and safety while riding.

We also recommend bundling up - you never know how cold it could get in Minnesota!

Layers, snow-pants, boots, mittens, hats, scarf, face-guard, etc.

All machines have heated helmet hookups if you are supplying your own heat-supplied helmet.

Q: Where can I take the snowmobile (which trails can I go on and how far away from the YBC locations)?

A: You can drive the snowmobile on any marked trail up to 100 miles away from the YBC Vermilion/Downtown Ely location.

If you have a destination that is not along a marked trail you must abide by state and local snowmobiling laws.

Q: Do you have trail maps?

A: Each machine rental includes a paper map of local trails. The DNR for Minnesota provides an interactive snowmobile trail map on their website. The direct link to it is here: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/snowmobiling/interactive_map/index.html. Machines also have GPS capabilities on each machine via Polaris Ride Command. If you’d like access to this mapping on your phone, you can download the app here.

Q: Can I trailer the sleds myself to a different location or to the place I am staying at?

A: No, we do not allow customers to trailer the snowmobiles. No exceptions.

Q: Do you offer delivery for the machines?

A: We do offer delivery of our snowmobile machines. *THERE IS A TWO-DAY MINIMUM REQUIREMENT FOR SNOWMOBILE RENTAL DELIVERY.

We do not offer delivery of our Side x Sides w/ Tracks.

Q: If I rent a snowmobile for a 23+ hour rental or for multiple days do I need to return the sled back to the YBC location for the night?

A: No, you can keep the snowmobile where you are staying as long as you drive it from our location.

If it is not possible to keep it where you are staying please let us know during your initial check-in so we can plan accordingly.

We have some parking options available by location.

Return Time: 8AM for 23hr rentals.

Q: Is insurance included with my Polaris Rental?

A: Yes. All Polaris rentals come with SNOW Standard Protection.

SNOW Standard Protection is $1,000 Maximum Out-of-Pocket cost. For an additional $15, you can upgrade your protection to our Premium Protection.

*PLEASE NOTE: SNOW Premier Protection – $500 Maximum Out-of-Pocket cost for any damages per machine. An RDF (Reduced Deductible Fee) can be added at the time of reservation, OR can be added at time of check in.

Q: Where and how do I check in for my snowmobile/side x side w tracks rental?

A: LAKE VERMILION: Check in at our YBC Vermilion location: 1 Marina Drive, Tower, MN 55790. Once you park your vehicle in our parking lot on the southwest side of the building come inside the main building and we will walk through all the necessary procedures and make sure you are geared up before your ride. To save time and get your adventure started as smoothly as possible make sure to fill out the waiver (included in your confirmation email) before your arrive.

A: DOWNTOWN ELY: Check in at our YBC Ely location: 3 E. Sheridan St. Ely, MN 55731
YBC Ely is located downtown, at the intersection of Sheridan St. and Central Ave. Park on the street and come inside the main building, we will then walk through all the necessary procedures and make sure you are geared up before your ride.  If you require parking for an overnight or multiday rental, you will be directed to our parking lot located just 1 block North of the YBC station.  To save time and get your adventure started as smoothly as possible make sure to fill out the waiver (included in your confirmation email) before you arrive.
