About The Lake
Welcome to Your Boat Club – Minnetonka, one of our most popular and exciting boating destinations in the metro!
Lake Minnetonka (meaning “Big Waters” in the native Dakota language) is Minnesota’s ninth largest lake, popular among boaters, sailors, and fishermen alike. There are over 14,500 acres of water here to explore! According to lakeminntonka.com, the lake was formed by glacial melting in the last ice age, and covers 125 miles of shoreline. This massive, sprawling body of water is actually 40 virtually independent bodies of water. There’s a ton of room for both recreational boaters and anglers. And best of all, it’s chock full of fish.
Your Boat Club has two Minnetonka locations, just down the road from one another: one at Brown’s Bay and one at Smith’s Bay. We take a lot of pride both our Smith’s Bay fleet, which has one of YBC’s most extensive choices of boats for your enjoyment.

According to lakeminnetonkaguides.com, “The structure in the lake makes for many tremendous guided fishing opportunities for a variety of sport fish. While being a nationally recognized trophy largemouth bass fishery, this metropolitan lake also has strong northern pike, walleye, panfish, small mouth bass, and muskie populations.”
So with all that water, where do you start? The key to successful fishing on this lake is to understand that each bay has unique characteristics and should be fished as though it were a separate lake. Local guides and tournament anglers claim that largemouth bass, bluegill and northern pike have grown immensely in the last few years. The average size caught in tournaments is now 3 pounds. 5 to 7-pounders are not unusual. The muskie population has also exploded… Most are over 30 inches!
